Cantor / Cantorial Soloist

Beth El Temple Center is searching for a part-time cantorial presence (Cantor or Cantorial Soloist) to join our vibrant congregation and be an integral part of our clergy team.

A warm and inclusive synagogue, Beth El Temple Center is a mid-sized congregation, affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism. We are located in Belmont, Massachusetts and serve many surrounding communities, including Cambridge, Watertown, Waltham, Lexington, Arlington and Somerville. With a strong egalitarian tradition, Beth El Temple Center welcomes Jews and their families who want to be a part of our Jewish community, including interfaith families, members of the LBGTQ community, and people with disabilities.

  • You enjoy building meaningful relationships with congregants and communities
  • Joyful, welcoming, spiritual, flexible, reliable, and of course, musical are just a sample of words that come to mind to describe you
  • You would enjoy working collaboratively as part of a small, but dynamic synagogue staff

About the Role/Opportunity

  • Provide musical leadership for Shabbat (with or without b’nai mitzvah), festivals, and the High Holidays
  • Work closely with our Rabbi (who has been with us for 20+ years) to create and lead meaningful worship services
  • Share your enthusiasm for and knowledge of Jewish music
  • Contribute to and participate in our temple community  

Additional duties, such as pastoral care, life cycle event support, and teaching may be negotiated based on your experience and our needs.
