Beth R. Goldstein, RJE, is excited to have joined the Beth El Temple Center staff in July of 2016 as the Director of Education. After graduating Brandeis in 2001, Beth earned a Masters in Jewish Education and a Masters in Jewish Communal Service from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 2006.
Following HUC-JIR, Beth served as the Director of Lifelong Learning at Congregation Sinai in Milwaukee, WI, where she oversaw all education programs within the synagogue from preschool through adult education. Beth then moved to Pittsburgh, PA and was the Director of Teen Education for the Agency for Jewish Learning where she oversaw J-SITE (the community Hebrew high school of 180 students), as well as the informal Jewish programming for this same age group.
After moving back to the Boston area three years ago, Beth was the founding Education Director for B’Yachad South Area Religious School in Brockton/Randolph, MA, where she created and ran a religious school for two synagogues in the South Area. Through that position, Beth was able to design a religious school program from the very beginning and create community-wide programs such as the first ever South Area Sukkot Family Camp!
Beth believes that a student who learns about Judaism in a kind and loving way will think about Judaism affectionately for the rest of his or her life. And only when students of all ages think about Judaism affectionately will they strive to learn more because it is something they love and respect. She believes that the best way to do this is through creating a warm and caring learning community by building strong relationships and shared experiences. In addition, Beth is an experienced songleader (both for religious schools and camps) and believes that music and the arts play an integral part of a person’s Jewish education.
When Beth is not at BETC, she enjoys playing guitar and spending time with her partner Rabbi Amy Hertz and their dog Mason!
